As part of our mission to transform the educational future of millions of students, we have launched the School Transformation Journey (STJ) program — in partnership with Orascom Construction and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
One of our success stories is unfolding at Al-Shaheed Ahmed Mohamed Hamdi Shiboub Primary School in Alexandria. In just one year, the school — home to more than 4,000 students and 117 teachers — has already witnessed remarkable change, not only in its infrastructure but also in the mindset and practices of its educators and leaders.
What is the School Transformation Journey (STJ)?
The STJ is a three-year, school-based reform program that targets the entire school community — teachers, counsellors, administrators, and management. The program is designed to achieve institutional transformation, creating sustainable change that lasts far beyond individual participation.
The journey began with a needs assessment, bringing together Educate Me Foundation, Ahmed Shibob school leadership, teachers, the Ministry of Education, and Orascom Construction. Together, we identified priorities in both infrastructure development and professional growth.
A Phased Approach to Transformation
The program is divided into six phases, two of which have already been completed. These included the full renovation of the school, creating a safe and welcoming environment for students in which to learn, as well as a series of training sessions that empowered teachers and leaders in self-awareness, school leadership, professional development, and financial sustainability.
Impact So Far
- 4,000 students and 117 teachers now benefit from a fully renovated, modern school.
- 87 educators have already taken part in self-awareness and leadership training.
- 51 educators have participated in financial sustainability, professional development training.
These are not just numbers — they represent students learning with dignity, teachers leading with confidence, and a school community growing stronger every day.
