During our first session of School transformation Journey program in”El-Esteklal” school in Menoufia, I met Asmaa Zayed, a graduate of Sadat University, Faculty of Childhood Education. I asked her a simple question, “Why did you volunteer with Educate Me Foundation?”
But I was surprised by an answer that was not simple at all.
She told me: “When I was young, I was in a public school in the Tabray village, my school had very few resources. For example, there was only one computer, so no one in the school learned how to use a computer.”
I used to think and wonder if there is no one to come and prepare the school, bring it resources, and develop it a little?
I grew up and forgot this question.. and One day, by chance, while searching on Facebook for foundation working on education development, I found Educate Me Facebook page. I remembered the question because I found the answer in STJ program. I was very happy that an idea came to me when I was a child, I have now found someone who is implementing it, so I felt that I had to participate in it.”
After I heard Asmaa’s words, I felt that she was answering a question that might be directed to the Educate Me Foundation team in general: “Why are we here?”
All of us at the Educate Me Here to fulfil an old dream for someone who thought it would never come true.
